From the moment that WandaVision premiered, fans could already smell the crushing disappointment that was awaiting us all at the end of the rainbow. Whatever reality held Wanda’s sitcom life, would surely not last forever. More importantly, The Vision in this reality couldn’t possibly exist outside of it. And so, most of us prepared early on to lose Vision for the third time.

However, the first season of WandavVsion ended with a surprising twist. We may have lost the original and the Westview version, but the all-White Vision assembled from the original synthezoid’s parts could have some sort of future in the MCU. At least that’s what it looks like though there is no word yet on how that would work out.

Actor Paul Bettany hypothesized in an interview with Esquire what Vision’s future may look like, and while it doesn’t confirm anything, it certainly suggests that there’s more story to tell.

"“Well, f#ck. How do I do this without spoilers? I guess we’ve seen what happens to Wanda when love is taken away from her. And I wonder what that would look like with Vision. I mean, that’s the thing, right? I’ve never had a loved one to lose… I don’t know what grief is because I’ve never had a loved one to lose.”"

Also aware of the multiverse and the endless possible ways that Vision could return to the MCU, Bettany admits to loving the character enough that he’s willing to play any inter-dimensional version of the android. He’s technically already played three versions; what’s a few more?

For the time being, I would put all of my chips toward the future that presumably will develop from the White version that left Westview with a hard drive full of sad memories and no Mind Stone.

How Vision’s story could continue in the MCU

It may be too early to really know what will become of Vision or where we will ever see him again, but fingers are crossed that the answers lie in Dr. Stange in the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda is already expected to be featured equipped with her newly acquired chaotic powers and the knowledge she has mined from the Darkhold, as seen in the WandaVision finale. Or maybe we’ll have our wishes granted even earlier with a cameo in Falcon and The Winter Soldier, which will premiere on March 19th.

What I don’t think that fans are prepared for is the possibility that Vision will be different. Wanda’s love saga may have ended when Westview’s Vision disappeared alongside the Hex. Considering that in the comic’s Wanda’s relationship crumbled when Vision’s memory was wiped, leaving behind a hollow version of who he used to be, their relationship in the live-action MCU may be at its end.

That’s not to say that there isn’t any hope for the lovebirds, White Vision has tragic memories of his past, and that’s how he differs from the fate that was written in the comics. Maybe he can learn to love her all over again? Either way, it doesn’t look like we’ve seen the last of Paul Bettany or his MCU alter ego.
