The Boys has a supes college spinoff in the works for Amazon Prime
If you’ve ever wondered what superhero training must have been for the supes after high school on The Boys, you will finally have your chance to see it. Amazon Prime has greenlit a The Boys spinoff that will take place in the only supes university in America. The yet-to-be-named series will feature a younger crowd of superheroes while still retaining an R rating.
The series has been in the works for some time, and the announcement comes with the executive producing addition of Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, who oversaw Marvel’s, Agent Carter. They will be joined by The Boys showrunners and the entire writing team, which means we can expect a lot of the same themes seen on the original show.
The Hollywood Reporter reported that the series would be different in that the young Supes will be dealing with all of the drama of college in addition to competing for contracts. “The show is described as part college show, part Hunger Games — with all the heart, satire and raunch of The Boys,” says THR.
As far as the school goes, I’m hoping that it is as opulent as Voight headquarters. I want the works— excessive training arenas and support teams for everything from costumes to public speaking. And there better be a cheerleading team. While we can expect the same rivalry and deception seen in The Boys, it will likely be MORE of everything. Just remember that these kids are younger, and they will likely not care who they have to step on just to get a slot in the big time.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has already confirmed that both shows will function within the same cinematic universe. If the series takes off on the right foot, we can hope for some interesting cameos. I wouldn’t mind seeing Homelander speaking on career day, especially since the college kids will likely not know who the real Homelander is. The Boys just finished filming their third season and have not released a premiere date.
The Boys Spinoff is coming to Amazon Prime sometime in the near future.
