The second season of Stephen King’s anthology series Castle Rock will be on Hulu soon, and it will be all about King’s famous novel, Misery.

Fans of Stephen King’s anthology horror series Castle Rock will be happy to know that the second season finally has a premiere date. Castle Rock is set in the Massachusetts town that harbors all of King’s creations, settings, and characters. On the brink of Halloween and all things creepy and crawly, Castle Rock will return to Hulu on October 23. And as per the latest teaser, this season’s theme is based on King’s famous novel and film, Misery.

The official announcement on Hulu’s twitter account came in the form of a quick teaser stating, “Misery arrives.” This season working with an actual focus may come as a surprise since Castle Rock‘s first season wasn’t centered on any of King’s specific works. If anything, it was a unique story with new characters that had a ton of easter eggs on a variety of King’s novels. However, most of the horror references were just in passing and had no real effect on the overall plot.

For example, the character Jackie Torrance was the niece of the crazed psycho Jack Torrance from The Shining. But that familial tie had no real connection to what ultimately made the season so enjoyable. Albeit the most significant easter egg was the Shawshank prison from the Shawshank Redemption as a setting — and it did play an essential part in the season. Hopefully, the second season using Misery in its promotion means that this time around the story will expand on the murky past of a story that we already know.

Watch the teaser for the second season of Castle Rock here:

Reportedly, this coming season will be about the pushback that a Somalian family experiences after moving into the small town. The fact that Anne Wilkes of Misery fame moves in at the same time and is robbed seems to heighten tensions, and the neighborhood is in for some more horrific surprises. And, for the record, there must be something horrible going on with young Wilkes (who will be played by Lizzy Caplan). Lest we forget that Wilkes is destined to be a future unhinged nurse who is willing to break the legs of her favorite author for quality time.

But the villain of Misery won’t be the only significant reference this season. Tim Robbins from Shawshank Redemption will be a main character this season and Jerusalem’s Lot will also be a prominent setting. The Lot was made famous by King’s masterpiece Salem’s Lot. If we’re lucky, the setting will give way to more then just nostalgia, and we may get some vampire behavior, just like in the original film.
