Our favorite ship on Game of Thrones, Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth, just hooked up but not without problems. Will these two ever work out?
Since Jaime Lannister and Brienne of Tarth first got acquainted, they’ve been one of the most shipped couples on Game of Thrones. Especially, after Jaime redeemed himself and became a decent man compared to the vile person he was when the series first began.
At last, Jaime deserved to have a healthy relationship with someone who wasn’t his sister. And Brienne deserved a man who’d love her and treat her right, with her knighthood and all.
Ladies and gentlemen, we can finally say that Jaime and Brienne finally overcame the sexual tension that had been brewing all season. Following the Battle of Winterfell, and a very awkward drinking game, the two hooked up.
Tonight’s episode almost announced it with heavy foreshadowing as Brienne revealed during said drinking game with Podrick, Jaime, and Tyrion that she was still a virgin. Jaime’s mind seemed to be whirling after she said that. And when he came unannounced to her room, they got to it.
But before you get excited for this new relationship in its early stages, know that Game of Thrones has already ruined it for us.
The whole thing crashes real quick because of Cersei, and she wasn’t even there! After Euron attacks Daenerys’ dragon Rhaegal and takes Missandei hostage, Daenerys and all her forces literally show up at Cersei’s door in Kings Landing. Once Jaime realizes that Cersei may die real soon, he leaves Brienne’s bedside and prepares his horse to head south.
Now Brienne wasn’t going to let the love of her life leave without a fight, so she tried to make him stay. Brienne knows that Jaime is a good man that has changed and that he is nothing like Cersei.
Sadly, even with Jaime’s dramatic evolution, he is very conscious of all of his sins. It may be that Jaime feels that he deserves to die as much as Cersei. But the rough reality is that he still loves Cersei and that love compels him to go for her as he’s always done in the past.
Game of Thrones continues next Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on HBO.
