Who could the Valonqar be?

Jon Snow

Snow is the younger brother of Rhaenys and Aegon Targaryen. If Snow and Daenerys sack King’s Landing, he could be the one to kill Cersei and release her from her duty as queen.

Jaime Lannister

Jaime is Cersei’s younger brother and the most unlikely of people to want to kill her because he is also her lover and father of her children. But as the younger twin, Jaime could be the Valonquar that kills Cersei. Especially, since they haven’t been seeing eye to eye lately.

Tyrion Lannister

After hearing the prophecy, Cersei surely thought that Tyrion was the Valonqar that would strangle her. This is likely one of many reasons she had no problem wanting to execute him way back when she thought Tyrion poisoned and killed her son, Joffrey. As the youngest Lannister brother, Tyrion could kill Cersei like he did his father to make way for queen Daenerys Targaryen.

Arya Stark

The most ambitious theory thus far is that Arya will kill Cersei with the added twist of wearing Jaime’s face. Should Arya use Jaime’s face to kill Cersei, Cersei would die thinking that her brother/lover betrayed her and ended her life. But the best part is that this theory satisfies the Valonquar caveat twice. Arya is the youngest sister of the Starks, and she’s wearing Jaime’s face which is another little brother.

All things considered, these two pieces of the prophecy will likely happen back to back. Cersei’s death could only be followed by someone taking ownership of her former royal position. During the series finale, we just might get to see someone take out Cersei while simultaneously taking over her seat on the Iron Throne.
