Will Danai Gurira ever return to the show?

Andrew Lincoln made it clear when he decided to leave The Walking Dead that there was no chance he was going to return. I’ll admit that I believe the only exception would be if the show were to finish. I could see The Walking Dead writers bringing the show full circle in the last season finale by bringing Rick back.

Still, Lincoln’s declaration that he would not return to the show that he has called home for nearly nine years was puzzling to fans. I mean, we can’t even get a cameo?

Later, it was revealed that Lincoln had moved on to The Walking Dead movies and was, therefore, severing his connection to the series. Everything made sense from that standpoint because to make the stories from the films a separate entity, he would have to release himself from the ongoing story in the TV series. It’s a move that they made with Morgan who is now a leading man on Fear the Walking Dead.

Will Gurira follow this path and never make another appearance on The Walking Dead? It’s definitely palpable that Michonne will end up in the films, start a whole new storyline there, and thus have no need to return to the series.

It remains to be seen if Michonne will ever make a cameo on The Walking Dead after her departure. I can only see Michonne coming back on the show should she leave her kids behind and that’s very unlikely. Naturally, fans would openly welcome Michonne’s return to the series whenever she’s ready.

No matter how you slice it, Michonne leaving her position as series regular is devastating. From the comics to the television series, she is a beloved character to The Walking Dead family.

Hopefully, she reemerges in the upcoming movies so that we at least get to see Richonne one last time!
