Who will lead Alexandria once Michonne is gone?

One thing is for sure, once Michonne leaves, Alexandria will never be the same. Not all people can lead, and Negan is an excellent example of this, albeit an evil one.

Rick Grimes RULED over Alexandria with benevolence and a sense of fairness that is rare at this point in time. Every so often it even seemed like he would forget his position on people because of the cruelness of the people he encountered, but somehow he always came back to center.

Michonne was very much like Grimes although she easily has her own style. If she abandons her posts by force or by choice, Alexandria will surely experience some ramifications — especially since the Whisperers are sure to stick around for several seasons.

When reviewing candidates for the post of Alexandria’s leader in Michonne’s absence, some of the original cast come to mind, but most wouldn’t be interested in taking the responsibility. I’m pretty sure that Carol would have no interest in the task since she won’t want to be apart from her man. We already found out through his position as a leader of the Saviors that Daryl could be a good substitute but doesn’t like to lead because he’s a loner.

Aaron is busy being a dad and would probably like to focus on that than lead a group of people. Tara could also have been a great stand-in, but given that Jesus recently died, she will have her hands full with Hilltop.

The likely answer here is that someone new will take the reigns of Alexandria. I’m all for a new leader as long as the Whisperers aren’t in control.
