The Walking Dead: We spy, with our fearful eye, someone in the woods

On The Walking Dead’s “Stradivarius,” Connie may have just spotted Hilltop’s newest threat. Could it be the Whisperers or a different threat?

With the episode “Stradivarius”, The Walking Dead has initiated a rescue mission to find Eugene in a barn where he is hiding out from the Whisperers. But no one knows they exist because Rosita was discovered by Aaron and Jesus dehydrated and in need of medical care. She’s unable to warn them about what she saw and heard, and they’re heading into unknown territory.

Simultaneously, Michonne arrives with her small group of strangers hoping to give them a home at Hilltop. Because Rosita is receiving care, Michonne has no choice but to join the group instead of heading back home as she planned. Michonne tells a set of Hilltop guards to let the community know they are all on their way.

During this exchange, Connie notices something in the woods. When asked what happened, she signs that it was nothing. And while Connie may not have heard what was moving about in the woods, she definitely sensed the presence of something or someone hiding.

Based on the camera’s viewpoint, it looks like someone is watching from behind the trees. While previews of the midseason finale tease The Whisperers somewhere near the barn where Eugene is hiding, there’s nothing that could stop a rogue Whisperer from disconnecting from the pack and finding their way alone in the woods to Hilltop territory.

What’s interesting about Connie’s reaction is that she almost doesn’t believe what she’s seeing, which is likely the reason why she tells her friends that it’s nothing. If a person is hiding in the forest wearing walker skin yet moving around like a human being, it would explain why Connie may have convinced herself that she is seeing things.

If this is indeed a member of the Whisperers, the group may be in danger before they even know it. This person in the woods may be taking back intel to the lead members of the group on the location of a prosperous community that they may consider conquering. But a better theory would be that this person hiding right outside the border of Hilltop is actually Lydia, the daughter of the lead Whisperer Alpha.

We already know that actress has already been confirmed to play the part of Lydia.
The part that’s still a little fuzzy is how her story will play out because in the comics she’s Carl’s girlfriend. Obviously, Carl can’t take on this storyline because he’s dead but another theory is that Henry will take on the love story as his own. Being that Henry is already at Hilltop, if Lydia is hiding out nearby, this could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
