The Walking Dead preview: Negan’s life may be in jeopardy
Negan will be visited by not one but two people — will he make it out alive or will vengeance finally come for him?
Everything is going wrong around Rick, from the failed bridge development to his peace with the Saviors, and that leaves so much room for Rick to meet a nasty end or to end up someplace far. The trailer for the fourth episode titled “The Obliged” isn’t shedding much light on what will happen with Rick past the fact that the problems within the communities are getting worse.
In one glimpse, we see the bridge bombarded by water, and later Rick is seen strategizing with Eugene on how to keep the bridge up. They knew from the beginning that there was a strict time frame in rebuilding, but since Jed left with plenty of Saviors, it will take even more time to complete the construction. Sadly, it doesn’t look like recruiting workers is the biggest issu. If the supports holding the bridge up won’t make it, then there will be nothing to build. At this point, should Rick abandon the bridge or is there still hope to rebuild?
As promised, Maggie went back to Hilltop to pack and prep for her Negan visit. We know she’s serious, as she’s taking a crowbar with her. It looks like Maggie won’t have to consider Rick and his feelings about killing Negan since the episode trailer shows Rick off on a mission with Daryl. Surprisingly, the brief flash we get of Negan sitting in his cell isn’t across from Maggie but from Michonne. And that’s in addition to the trailer showing Michonne grabbing for her retired sword.
Watch the trailer for “The Obliged” here:
Is Michonne visiting Negan with the intent of killing him or is this just a little chat? On a good note, Michonne may just be intercepting Maggie’s meeting without even knowing it. If Maggie comes to kill in Rick’s absence, there will be someone there to stop her from doing her worst. Michonne is going to stick to her man’s plan till the end but who can say that this little meeting won’t change her mind about how she feels about Negan’s fate.
And if you thought the mass Savior exodus would cause less headaches for our faves, you were wrong. Carol and Jerry arm up when a group of Saviors attack — who knows what they want now.
While all of this drama is happening amongst the communities, Rick is off with Daryl, and the two friends end up fist fighting over what we can guess is their growing differences.
I really think Rick in a ditch is just a set up for an even bigger problem ahead like a kidnapping or an attack. What if the helicopter people, waiting around for their “A”, come across Rick and Daryl’s brawl? Or worse, the Whisperers…
The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
