The Walking Dead preview: The Saviors are ready for a fight

This week’s episode of The Walking Dead shows the Saviors are still fighting, but Rick still won’t listen to Daryl’s warnings.

If there’s one takeaway from last week’s bridge brawl, I would say it’s that the Saviors are ready to start a revolution. Whether they should actually put so much effort into rebelling against a system that feeds and protects them is another story. The problem, for them at least, is that Negan’s violence makes more and more sense as life with Rick continues to go downhill.

The preview for this week’s episode, “Warning Signs” is nothing but a montage of Savior fights. Where was all that bravado when Negan was killing off Saviors and forcing them to do his bidding?

Carol, Jerry, and the others are prepared to defend themselves when the Saviors show up in a big crowd ready for action, and it looks like Carol steps in to break it up as the current leader of the Sanctuary. Even Gabriel has to face someone who approaches him menacingly for a fight. He’s lost his eyesight and has finally found love, so can’t we leave Gabriel alone for a minute?

The most alarming part is that Rick’s voiceover during the preview is still in denial and asking for unity in fear of losing that brighter future he’s trying to build. This continues even after Daryl tries to talk sense to Rick, yet again, about how some people are just not meant to live in their community.

What would make the most sense is for Rick to consider Daryl’s words seriously as he has been with him since the very beginning. But Rick thinks he has the whole leading thing under control and is failing to recognize that taking his friend’s advice is his best bet.

Daryl and Maggie are also seen on a run together with what appears to be fuel tanks — perhaps the missing ethanol? By the end of the clip, it looks like they’re deciding to do things their way since Rick is stubbornly ignoring their warnings. It will only be Rick’s fault if they decide to follow an entirely different plan since he’s allowed the Savior issues to escalate.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
