The Walking Dead preview: Can communities truly rebuild, or will Negan rise again?
It is only a matter of time before conflict and chaos arise on The Walking Dead. This week, a seemingly simple task of rebuilding a bridge seems to be where disaster will strike.
I’m pretty sure that when Rick saw that a bridge was out, he would have never guessed that it would be a bigger problem past the physical work and supplies needed. But this weeks preview of the episode titled “The Bridge” teases turmoil between Hilltop, the Saviors, and the Kingdom, and plenty of headaches for Rick who is trying to keep the peace.
What could have been a community effort to restore the bridge gets ugly when a Savior pushes Henry, who is just a kid, out of the way. An all-out brawl develops, which attracts the attention of a walker horde.
There isn’t much work getting done on the bridge, but there’s plenty of blame being tossed around with everyone taking their aggressions out on each other. What’s more, it looks like Aaron rushes to save someone from a runaway tree log and it’s possible that if he didn’t get it in time, someone is seriously injured.

Following the brawl, Daryl asks Rick whose side he is on. This poses a new issue for Rick who is looking for amiable teamwork. While Rick may be striving to lead fairly, it seems as if the leaders of the respective communities will start pulling him from every direction. This appears to be true of Hilltop considering that Alden compares Rick to Negan for offering protection in exchange for service. Let’s hope that Michonne’s negotiation with Maggie on setting some agreed upon rules is more successful then Ricks attempts at managing.
And speaking of Negan, we finally get a glimpse of his lair when Rick pays him a visit. Negan is being held up in a basement somewhere, but somehow he knows that Rick has trouble on his hands. Negan brags that Rick isn’t saving the world but preparing it for his return. With how poorly things are working out, Negan could very well manipulate his way back.
The Walking Dead airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
