Kingdom Hearts III is missing one superstar from its all-star Disney voice cast

Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts III will feature the voices of the lead actors in the films Frozen and Tangled, but one person’s missing.

Kingdom Hearts III is loved for enticing fans by exploring the vast world of Disney. The video game revolves its stories around beloved Disney and Final Fantasy characters fighting against the darkness in the familiar worlds of Disney’s most famous animated (and even live action) films. So, it makes perfect sense that Frozen and Tangled will have its place on the KH3 map and that some of the actors who voiced those characters will be reprising their roles for the video game.

When possible, the previous Kingdom Hearts games have also used the voices of the actors that represented the Disney characters in the animated films. The lead role of Sora, the main player character, will once again be voiced by Haley Joel Osment of The Sixth Sense fame.

According to Square Enix, the game’s developer, Frozen and Tangled will be represented in KH3 by the following cast:

  • Idina Menzel – Elsa (Frozen)
  • Kristen Bell – Anna (Frozen)
  • Josh Gad – Olaf (Frozen)
  • Jonathan Groff – Kristoff (Frozen)
  • Zachary Levi – Flynn Rider (Tangled)
  • Donna Murphy – Mother Gothel (Tangled)

While it’s amazing that leads like Idina Menzel — who’ll be returning for a Wicked anniversary celebration — and Kristen Bell have been able to make it into the game, there is one notable lead who is missing. Tangle’s very own Rapunzel will seemingly be voiced by another actress.

In the movie, she was voiced by Mandy Moore. But recently, Moore has been busy with This Is Us’ third season, so we can see why she might not have been able to voice the character this time around. (Albeit, Kristen Bell’s occupied with The Good Place’s third season and Zachary Levi finished up Shazam filming. But we’re just thankful the celebs they do have could find the time to voice these characters.)

Here’s another list of some of the actors that have been confirmed to return to voice their Disney roles:

  • John Ratzenberger – Hamm (Toy Story)
  • Wallace Shawn – Rex (Toy Story)
  • Tate Donovan – Hercules (Hercules)
  • Kevin R. McNally — Gibbs (The Pirates of the Caribbean)
  • Tony Anselmo – Donald Duck
  • Bill Farmer- Goofy

To give you an idea of how anticipated this video game is, Kingdom Hearts II was released in 2005. There have been some remixes to the original games since the second installment, but fans have been waiting 13 years for this game to hit stores. It’s nice to see that Square Enix and Disney have blessed the new game with authenticity such as using the actors from the Disney animations.

If you want to check out the Kingdom Hearts 3, it will be released on all platforms on Jan. 29, 2018
