Disney's Frozen 3 will get a Thanksgiving theatrical date in 2027

It's official. It'll be three years before we encounter Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven, and Kristoff again.

During the D23 Expo from August 9-11, Disney fans were treated to the first looks at upcoming movies for the next few years. One of them was Frozen 3, which will continue the saga of the popular franchise. However, it'll be a long journey before we reconnect with sisters Anna and Elsa, as well as their snowman friend, Olaf, as Disney is holding back on the release date.

Frozen's director, Jennifer Lee at D23, confirmed that the third installment of the franchise has been delayed and will be released in 2027 instead of the initially planned date of 2026.

Back in April of 2023, a fourth film was announced by the Disney CEO Bob Iger that a third Frozen film is coming. In November, he followed up with a fourth film announcement on ABC's Good Morning America. Both will answer the questions that 2019's Frozen 2 left unanswered.

While we don't know the premiere date of Frozen 4, we do know the drop for Frozen 3!

Disney reveals that Frozen 3 will have a Thanksgiving date

Disney confirmed that Frozen 3 will be released theatrically on November 24, 2027. That's the day before Thanksgiving and three years from this year's holiday celebration. It's a pretty long wait, but I guess we just "have to let it go" and be patient for its glory.

But Frozen fans weren't left in the cold without anything at D23. Concept art was unveiled, featuring Elsa and Anna, with Olaf in tow, riding horseback against a Norwegian sunset. It's just a little piece of what we can expect as the plotlines are still locked away and won't be disclosed until closer to Frozen 3's release.

Frozen and Frozen 2 became Box Office successes, taking in nearly $3 billion globally. The films were granted Academy Awards for "Best Animated Feature" and "Best Original Song," with Frozen 2 gaining the latter.

Kirsten Bell, Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff are expected to return to reprise their respective characters, and hopefully, new characters will be included as the franchise continues to expand.
