Valkyrie is ‘thriving’ in the post-Avengers: Infinity War world

Valkyrie’s fate has been in question since Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. Tessa Thompson confirmed via Twitter that the beloved Valkyrie is still alive and well.

To everyone’s horror, in Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos’ snap heard around the world took out half of the population, and with it, a lot of Marvel characters we love. Fans have been anxiously reviewing the whereabouts of all the known superheroes to see just how many we lost and how many we should be mourning.

A few of the Marvel legends, such as Ant-Man, Hawkeye, and Valkyrie, could not be accounted for and that sprouted theories as to why they didn’t show up in the Infinity War movie. While we found out in Ant-Man and the Wasp that Ant-Man had been stranded in the Quantum Realm, we don’t know much else about where the others could be.

In particular, Valkyrie’s absence precedes the snap. She was last spotted in Thor: Ragnarok on the Asgardian ship alongside Thor, Heimdall, and Loki. And while Infinity War starts off exactly where Ragnarok left off, she’s is nowhere to be seen. During Thanos’ attack on the ship, Heimdall and Loki are killed leaving Thor on a ship littered with Asgardian bodies. No one in the film even references her. The question that has long haunted fans since Infinity War is this: Is she one of the bodies on the Asgardian ship’s floor, or had she left before Thanos’ arrival?

Valkeryie’s status became even more of a mystery after Thanos gathered the Infinity Stones and snapped his fingers seemingly wiping out half the world at the end. It begged the question that if Valkeryie had survived Thanos’ attack on the Asgardian vessel, was she now a victim of Thanos’ finger snap induced disintegration wave that took out half the population?

Tessa Thompson responded this week to a fan’s question on whether Thanos’ finger snap affected Valkeryie and Thompson responded:

Not only does Thompson say that Valkyrie survived, but that she is thriving or doing very well in her endeavors, whatever they may be. So, what did happen to her in Avengers: Infinity War?

Joe Russo has previously said that a portion of the Asgardians was able to exit the ship via escape pods, allowing the Asgardian race to avoid extinction. It is more than likely that she tagged along as security.

As for Valkyrie thriving, I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s fighting her way back to Earth to join the Avengers. This could mean that Valkyrie’s been delayed because of trouble wherever the Asgardians landed.

Thompson has yet to be confirmed for Avengers 4 and isn’t listed as part of the cast on IMDB. However, this doesn’t mean she won’t, as her return could be kept under wraps until the last minute. After all, Chris Hemsworth recently posted Instagram stories leaving the set of Avengers 4 alongside Thompson to head to their film shoot for Men in Black. Hemsworth doesn’t mention whether Thompson participated in Avengers 4 and only references that she had just finished shooting for Creed. But let’s be honest, how likely would it be that Thompson is on an Avengers set with no Valkyrie involvement?

It doesn’t look like Valkyrie’s story will completely unfold till the release of Avengers 4. Even if she doesn’t make an appearance they will tease her whereabouts then, for sure.
