Nancy Drew may not have aired a new episode on April 21, but that doesn’t mean we can’t show the series some love, especially our boy Ace.

When it comes to members of the Drew Crew, Ace is definitely one of our favorites, next to Nancy Drew herself of course! And there are actually a few reasons for this.

Not only is Ace actually a pretty well-rounded character in his own right, but he also brings something to the table beyond being a potential love interest. We love when we get to see him interacting with his father. Not only does it mean getting to see him using sign language (which we would love to see more of on prime time TV), but it also means seeing him being vulnerable. While he may not be able to tell his police officer father everything he is up to with Nancy and their friends, it is clear that he truly trusts and respects his dad.

Then there is the fact that while he has had his fair share of legal drama himself (it seems like the entire Drew Crew is a magnet for trouble), he does do what he can to make things right for others. He is an accomplished computer hacker, which is of course how he got in trouble to begin with, so when it comes to getting all the details Nancy needs for her investigations, he is her man.

Why do we love Nancy Drew’s Ace?

And speaking of being her man, let’s not forget the relationship between Nancy and Ace. While these two are clearly really good friends, over time we have watched their relationship grow in a way that feels organic and natural. It also means that so many of us see these two as “end game.”

We want Nancy and Ace to end up together. We want to see the potential we have seen grow into the real thing.

Whether Ace is helping to save Nancy or trying to bridge the gap between Nancy Drew and her fathers or Nancy is trying to save Ace from trouble, these two have an easy flow that was never there between her and Ned.

Even among the rest of the Drew Crew, it is clear that while we think of Nancy as the tie that brings everyone together, it seems like Ace is the glue itself. He is there for everyone and he steps in when others don’t.

While he might be The Bayside Claw’s resident cook and dishwasher, that’s just the bare minimum of what he does. He is a big reason why things keep moving along, both in the restaurant itself and in the many investigations and mysteries that the group finds themselves involved in.

Ace is even-keeled, friendly, and even rather Zen about life, and that is what this show needs. He is the calm in the storm and he is the one that the group needs to keep going because he can be their rock.

At times, it feels like we are just not getting enough of Ace on our screens. And that is something we would love to see change, as he is clearly an important part of this story. Then again, maybe it is his calm presence that makes us feel like he is just not there enough.
