Lonzo Ball Inside Whatchamacallit
Whatchamacallit sent the judges on a wild goose chase as they guessed NFL Hall of Famer and television personality Michael Strahan, rapper Tyler, the Creator, actor Winston Duke, comedian J.B. Smoove, and current NBA players Carmelo Anthony and Devin Booker. Ken Jeong eventually came to the conclusion it was Lonzo Ball after his third performance, a performance behind this author who shifted from Metta Sandiford-Artest (formerly known as Ron Artest and Metta World Peace) to Ball after performance no. 2.
Jeong couldn’t stop screaming after the unmasking, as the basketball fan, who is usually way off, is clutch when it comes to NBA Stars. In season two, he was the only judge who guessed correctly that Thingamajig was Victor Oladip. The Crazy Rich Asians actor picked up on a hint that this star had a brand. Ball is the face of the Big Baller Brand (BBB), which was founded by his father upon entering the 2017 NBA Draft.
The New Orleans Pelicans guard, who has released three singles and an album, had a ball on The Masked Singer.
“I love music, I love performing; so this kind of brought it all together,” Ball told the panel. “My mom watches [The Masked Singer] so it’s going to definitely put a smile on her face when she sees.”
Entering his fourth NBA season, the 23 year old revealed this reality competition show was more challenging than he anticipated. This was the first time the Ball in the Family reality star did choreography and performed inside a costume, where his visibility was nearly nonexistent.
“I’ve been performing in front of people my whole life, [but] this is an experience like I’ve never had before,” Ball said. “Basketball, I have a whole team with me and I have time to study moves, and stuff like that. On [The] Masked Singer, I just came here…had a whole new look, whole new kind of a new character and just went after it.”
