FOX network will air Spectrum original series L.A.’s Finest starting September 21.

L.A.’s Finest is finally making its way to mainstream television.

FOX network plans to roll out a Monday lineup that airs season one of L.A.’s Finest on a weekly basis beginning September 21. The Bad Boys II (2003) spin-off stars Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba as Sydney Burnett and Nancy McKenna, respectively. The two are LAPD cops with the story following Sydney. Syd was introduced in Bad Boys II as Marcus Burnett’s (Martin Lawrence) sister who was also an undercover DEA agent.

The series is a Spectrum TV original, as its first season aired 13 episodes on a weekly basis in 2019. Season two released all 13 of its episodes at once on Wednesday. For those who have not ordered the app, L.A.’s. Finest going to FOX network is a good way to catch Union and Alba in action.

Why L.A.’s Finest Is Worth Watching

Fans of the Bad Boys franchise can discover what happened to Syd after seeing her partner up with Mike Lowry (Will Smith) and Marcus in the movie’s second installment. In that film, it was discovered Syd was a field agent for the DEA and had a fling with Marcus’ partner Mike. While not as clever as her older brother Marcus, in the film she was a bad girl when it came to dangerous situations. During the film’s iconic highway chase sequence, Syd showed she could hold her own even with bullets firing her way.

With this show’s story taking place in between Bad Boys II and Bad Boys For Life (2020), this could fill in some gaps when it comes to Syd’s backstory. Through that, fans may find out why Syd and Mike broke up. With this show under the umbrella of Jerry Bruckheimer Television (Bruckheimer produced all three Bad Boys films), there is no reason to doubt this crime drama will be packed with action and comedy.

In addition to those elements, the cast is very promising. Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters) plays Syd’s father, Evan Handler (Sex and the City, Power) plays the LAPD’s Captain Thomas Hirch, Duane Martin (All of Us) is an LAPD cop, and John Salley (Bad Boys, Mr. 3000) reprises his role as Fletcher to round off a solid supporting cast behind Union and Alba.

Our characters “don’t always see eye to eye. But at the end of the day, we are ride or die and we have each other’s back and it is important for people to see two women kicking butt and taking names and really doing it together and really partnering up and not being competitive,” Alba said on Good Morning America last year. “[Gabrielle Union created] this show. Like how amazing is that? I was just so happy to be a part of her creation.”

Union and Alba are also executive producers on L.A.’s Finest.
