Jake Gyllenhaal spotting in London fans flames for Spider-Man: Far From Home casting

A wild Jake Gyllenhaal was spotted in London recently. While that might seem normal for some, it has Marvel fans thinking something good is on the way.

Jake Gyllenhaal has been, dare we say, a little far from home recently. The actor was recently seen in London, and while the appearance might not set off any alarm bells for most people, it seems to be otherwise for Marvel fans.

In May, reports showed that Gyllenhaal was in talks to play a character in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Nothing has been set in stone just yet, but the rumors say that he is poised to play Mysterio in the upcoming film.

The title, Far From Home, hints largely that the movie will be taking place completely away from Spider-Man’s stomping grounds in Queens and taking him out of the country altogether. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige teased that Peter Parker and his friends would be going to Europe in the movie, but he didn’t say exactly where. Then, Tom Holland was seen filming around London earlier this month, making it seem like some (if not all) of the movie will take place there.

Given Holland’s been filming in London and Gyllenhaal is rumored to play a role in the film, it seems like more than a coincidence that Gyllenhaal’s suddenly in London. Kevin Feige talked to ComicBook.com about Spider-Man: Far From Home last month, but he was not willing to confirm anything about Gyllenhaal just yet. Could Gyllenhaal’s arrival in London be all the confirmation we need?

Gyllenhaal isn’t the only character rumored to be in the Spider-Man sequel. Samuel L. Jackson was also in the London area a few weeks ago flashing some Nick Fury memorabilia. That also left some wondering if Fury could continue his run in the MCU by making an appearance in the movie.

Another rumor just last week speculated that Cobie Smulders could appear in Far From Home as Agent Maria Hill based off of an alleged Instagram post from Numan Acar. Unfortunately, his actual Instagram caption did not match up with the caption that first sparked attention — thus far making it highly unlikely that this cameo could happen.

If all the rumors were true, that’d make Spider-Man: Far From Home an all-star movie. But we’ll just have to wait and see if Gyllenhaal and any others will be making an appearance. If he really is filming, perhaps we’ll see some set photos of him as Mysterio pretty soon.
