Game of Thrones Season 7: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Teases Fans (Again)

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has given fans possibly the best hints ever for Game of Thrones season 7, because these are seriously tantalizing.

Say what you will about Jaime Lannister as a character on Game of Thrones. It’s becoming quite difficult to deny that the man who plays him, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, is not above dropping the most tantalizing of tidbits. (He’s done it before.) Our sister site, Winter is Coming, picked up on his appearance on BUILD Series. Let’s start with the smaller things and work our way up.

First off, he doesn’t mind the Tormund/Brienne ship, saying it’s a “perfect couple” and Jaime wouldn’t be envious. Alas, when even the actor says it’s good for another character to get with the lady knight everyone’s shipped Jaime with for years at this point, we’ll just have to move on. (Who are we kidding? Hope remains, even though this show has long since taught fans that feelings are to be crushed.)

Second, Coster-Waldau answered the nigh-inevitable question of who he wants to win. He did not say Jaime, by the way, pointing out that Jaime has done it once before. After killing Mad King Aerys, Jaime took a seat on the Iron Throne, but gave it up. That would be why we don’t have King Jaime Lannister. Frankly, it’s probably for the best since it probably would have killed him sooner rather than later.

Instead, he said he did not want Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, or Cersei Lannister to end up the victor. Why? “[Cause] it’s just gonna continue.” He’s not wrong on that account — it wouldn’t surprise us either if one of the three does win, but the peace is brief for some reason.

Now, though, we get to the most fascinating of all. Prepare yourself for this. Here’s WiC’s transcription, sans emphasis:

"“What’s interesting, though, is every year there are huge spoilers online where people find out real stuff and they will post it, and you go, ‘Oh my God, they just spoiled the whole season online!’ But then, because there’s 10,000 other spoilers out there, they’re not real. It just gets lost in the shuffle. So, it’s all out there, by the way, if you can find it.”"

Reports of actual leaks and spoilers have mostly stopped as of late. Presumably that’s because production is nearly done. (Coster-Waldau also said he was doing ADR to re-record some dialogue, which confirms that.) We don’t think he’s talking about the photos that surfaced all throughout filming, either. WiC speculates on which spoilers he’s talking about, but we’ll guess that at least one of the true things has to do with what Gilly’s reading in the teaser photos.
