February has been a Marvel-ous month so far, with the release of the highly anticipated Deadpool 3 trailer, whose viewership is already shattering records, and of course the first looks of fan-favorite projects X-Men’97 and the Fantastic Four. Apart from Deadpool 3’s craze and Madame Web’s negative reviews, what's currently hot in the MCU market is Henry Cavill joining the studio's talented roster.

Although it’s not officially confirmed, rumors are spreading like wildfire that Henry Cavill has accepted a key role in MCU’s future project (source: @MyTimeToShineHello). Of course, this news has everyone losing their minds, especially Cavill fans, who were pretty upset when he hung up his Superman cape. Let’s have a look below at what fans believe Cavill will be potentially portraying and the actor's thoughts becoming a part of Marvel Studios in the future.

Fans’ Envision Henry Cavill As These Two MCU characters

Captain Britain:

Fans have been long wishing for Cavill to take on the role of Captain Britain, a beloved Marvel character who first made an appearance in Captain Britain #1 as Brian Braddock and as Betsy Braddock in Captain Britain #8 in the comics.

A brief history of the character: Brian used to study at the Darkmoor Nuclear Research Center, but a motorcycle accident changed his life forever. Heavily wounded, he was rescued by magicians Merlyn and Roma, who gave him two options, out of which he chose to become Captain Britain, linking his power to an Amulet of Rights.

In a past interview, even Cavill expressed his interest in playing the titular character, saying, “That would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that.” (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Dr. Doom

Kang The Conqueror was supposed to be the next baddie of the MCU after Thanos, but following Jonathan Majors’ exit from the MCU and no official recasting news as of now, the future of Kang remains uncertain. Nevertheless, Marvel Studios can solve its main villain problem by introducing and setting up the very popular Dr. Doom in its upcoming Fantastic Four.

Dr. Doom is a renowned supervillain who made his debut in Fantastic Four #5 and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby.  In movies, the role of Doom was first played by Joseph Colp in the 1994 Fantastic Four film and then by Julian McMahon in the 2005 and 2007 Tim Story-directed versions. Dr. Doom’s powers and abilities are a blend of technology and magic, making him a standout and, of course, a formidable foe to the heroes.

In addition to Cavill, Cillian Murphy is also among the top contenders to play Dr. Doom. It would be interesting to see what Marvel has in store for Cavill and the other rumored candidates.

Cavill’s experience playing a superhero dates back to 2013’s Man of Steel. His powerful portrayal, coupled with his great physique, confident demeanor, and ability to convey a character’s internal turmoil, is what made him an authentic and beloved Superman. However, his tenure as the fan-favorite superhero came to an end when James Gunn took over DC. In a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill gave his opinion on playing an MCU character, but he had one condition. Look at his comment below.

"“I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else …Yes, yes, we all realize that by now … because everyone’s doing such an amazing job. However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”"

It would be great to see if this rumor actually turns into an official good news in the future or if it’s simply another fake piece of information to get everyone's hopes high.
