Clue is getting its first major renovation in 70 years
In honor of the 70th anniversary of the board game Clue, it seems that the mansion as seen on the board is getting a renovation. And we get to help!
For 70 years, Clue has been a favorite board game of many. The murder mystery has been a staple of game nights, and it even inspired a cult-classic movie of the same name. And over all that time, the classic board has never changed (although there have been pop culture editions of the game released).
Now it seems that the Clue mansion is finally getting renovated and we all get a hand in helping decide how the game will change. According to Bustle, it seems that it is time for the Hall to go and a new room to join the murderous mansion where people like Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, and Mrs. Peacock all have a story to tell and a possible motive for murder.
Considering this is the first time that Clue is getting a major makeover, it makes sense that Hasbro would decide to team up with Houzz, the resource for home design, in order to create a new room for poor Mr. Boddy to be murdered in. However, it is not just Houzz that is getting a say in the changes being made to the game, as fans will also get to weigh in on what they want to see.
Starting on August 26 and continuing until September 9, a poll will be running on the Houzz website with four options to choose from, including a brand new Hall design. The other three options include a bathroom (it’s about time), a drawing-room, and a guest room.
With how lovely the designs are for each room, it might be hard to choose which one should be added to the board game — or if we just want the Hall to get a makeover. And while all of the new rooms are lovely, it will be up to all of us to vote for our favorite.
As a fan of Clue, I personally think it may be time for a bathroom. After all, it is something new to the board, and it actually feels like a worthy addition to the game. Of course, the Hall getting a makeover would also be nice if we want to keep the nostalgia alive.
Once the poll has ended, the results will be tallied and an announcement will be made on October 21, letting fans know exactly which room will be part of the mansion’s renovation. And once that happens, we can start picking up the new board game starting in December, just in time for Christmas.
No matter which room is chosen, it is nice to see Hasbro giving Clue new life for its 70th birthday. And hopefully everyone is happy with the room that ultimately appears on the made over board game.
