A Discovery of Witches clip: Diana meets her match with Satu

After episode 5’s cliffhanger, we know that Diana is in danger. In this next-episode clip, will she be able to escape Satu?

There are only a few episodes left in the first season of A Discovery of Witches, and we are really starting to fear the worst.

Last week, episode 5 almost ended quite smoothly. After pressure from both Ysabeau and Sarah and Em not to continue her relationship with Matthew, things took a sweet turn. Ysabeau accepted Diana as part of the de Clermont family (she literally called Diana her daughter!) and Ysabeau officially joined Team Diana in her fight against the Congregation.

But, Ysabeau isn’t here to hold Diana’s hand the whole time. She told her that the de Clermont women know how to defend themselves, and Diana would be no different. That would have been the perfect time for Ysabeau to help Diana learn to control her powers, except… Diana was kidnapped the morning after her rather sizzling moment in bed with Matthew.

So, what’s to come from Diana? The episode 6 synopsis goes as follows:

"In this week’s episode, Satu brutally tortures Diana in Gerbert’s isolated castle ruins. Matthew, now sworn to hunt down and kill anyone who tries to harm Diana, attempts a daring airborne rescue mission with Baldwin in tow."

In the clip for episode 6 below, you’ll see Diana has really gotten herself into trouble with Satu — and we’ll just have to hope that she’ll defend herself like a real Bishop and de Clermont woman.

Unfortunately for Diana, it looks like no one was around to see her when she was kidnapped. And there’s no telling how long it will have been before Matthew is able to find her. If she’s off and disappeared, we’re hoping his immediate reaction will be that it has something to do with the Congregation — but we’re thinking Diana may have to save herself in this situation.

Diana, after all, possesses the powers of pretty much every element. She knows about witch wind and witch water, and because of her earth elemental powers, Matthew says she must be able to cast spells, too. We could be all for Matthew coming in and saving damsel-in-distress Diana from Satu. But let’s be real, she’s far from that. She may not have precise control over her powers, but now that they’ve awakened, she definitely knows how to defend herself when the time is right.

The episode synopsis does say that Matthew will be performing an “airborne rescue mission,” which could mean that it will indeed be him (and Baldwin) saving her. But we’re really hoping for at least one big moment where Diana gets to chance to unleash her powers.

Episode 6 of A Discovery of Witches airs on Sunday, May 12 at 9 p.m. EST on AMC and BBC America.
