Spider-Man: Far From Home’s second trailer finally addresses those Endgame spoilers
By Meg Dowell
A new Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer has dropped. This spoiler-filled preview shows how much the MCU is about to change.
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame.
It’s not getting harder to avoid spoilers for the newest film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The latest Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer is full of them. But at least now we think we know more about where the story is heading next.
We’re not exaggerating, by the way. There are spoilers all over this trailer.
The video even opens with Tom Holland warning viewers to click away if they haven’t seen Endgame yet — which is quite laughable considering he’s gotten in trouble for leaking Marvel spoilers in the past.
Hopefully, you heeded Spidey’s advice if you haven’t seen the movie yet, though, because it opens with a spoiler — as in, there’s a spoiler within the first two seconds of the trailer.
At least now we know why Sony Pictures Entertainment has just now released its official trailer. It turns out, the events of Avengers: Endgame will affect Far From Home more than you may have thought.
Let’s break this down. But first — the trailer. This is your last warning. Spoilers! SPOILERS!
You good? You sure? Okay. Here we go.
Right away, we’re hit with a nice punch to the gut. We finally just started feeling slightly less terrible about losing Tony Stark and now this. The first words of the trailer: “Everywhere I go, I see his face. I just really miss him.” Ugh, same.
Spider-Man is really feeling the pressure to fill the space where Iron Man once stood. He’s still doing his thing, keeping his Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man gig up and running. But he’s lost his mentor. Neither Happy nor Nick Fury can fill that void.
But maybe Mysterio can?
Speaking of new heroes that might actually become villains (that’s speculation for another post) it turns out Endgame didn’t just impact Peter Parker’s world. It changed the entire universe.
The biggest revelation of all in this three-minute spot: There’s now, supposedly, a multiverse. The snap(s) didn’t just bring back the dusted and get rid of Thanos once and for all. It opened “a hole to another dimension.”
Which means if this is really where they’re going with this — Spidey asks the question but you can never fully trust a trailer right? — new timelines. More characters (old AND new?). And, obviously, dozens more movies’ worth of chaos.
Bring. It. ON.
The threat to Earth extends far beyond outer space now. Which may mean it’s possible the MCU could pull of post-Endgame phases that are even bigger than what we’ve already seen.
Did you hear that? That’s the sound of us hitting replay on this trailer for the 40th time today. It’s the best we’ve got until July. Are you ready?
Do you think the Marvel Cinematic Universe is ready to tackle the multiverse? Could this mean characters we thought were gone aren’t actually gone? Are you doing OK? Let us know.
