War Machine series

Hello, Iron Man. That’s right: Tony Stark isn’t the only Iron Man, and James Rhodes is just as much an Iron Man as he is War Machine. Since he’s been in the MCU just as long as Tony Stark — you know, a whole decade — he deserves his long-overdue time as a focal character in the MCU.

War Machine has been a prominent character in Marvel comics history since the late ’60s. However, the MCU hasn’t given his character enough screentime to reflect his comic book contributions. In the comic, Rhodey is also Tony’s best friend, and they work alongside each other both on the battlefield and in the lab.

However, the War Machine series could allow Rhodey to develop more of his own on-screen identity and crime-fighting choreography on his own. After all, Rhodey is also Iron Man, but even his implicit and explicit runs at an iron-clad hero allow him to focus on his personal, professional, and heroic life without on his own.

Though Rhodey hasn’t had any solo movies, his rumored Disney+ TV series could segway to an upcoming solo film, trilogy, or even lead to him as the leader of the post-Thanos Avengers team.
