Jason Momoa’s top 5 moments hosting Saturday Night Live
Jason Momoa hosted Saturday Night live and presented some awesome sketches showing off his love for the show and his ability to play different characters.
Who would have thought that Jason Momoa was as big a fan of Saturday Night Live as the rest of us? I know I wasn’t expecting the star of Aquaman to light up the SNL stage in his first-ever hosting gig, proclaiming to be an SNL nerd and starting off the night with the high enthusiasm of someone who was genuinely excited about the opportunity.
Momoa is pure eye candy, so he could have stood there for all of the show, and we would all have been pleased with the results of the night. However, he meant to make his SNL first time memorable and put some hard effort into his skits. Some of them were really cute if not downright funny.
Here are the highlights of Momoa’s SNL night that will make you chuckle:
Monologue
Momoa opened with his love for SNL and several references to his strength and that led to him opening a pickle jar for Aidy Bryant’s viewing pleasure (which he probably had to do all week). Then he considered Parliament’s 1978 disco-funk song “Aqua Boogie” for the Aquaman soundtrack as suggested by the cast, and his Aqua Boogie shuffle was glorious.
Elf on the Shelf
The Elf on a Shelf is a kid’s very own Santa Claus representative here to report to Santa who has been naughty or nice. In this skit, Momoa plays an elf that isn’t happy with having to watch his thirteen-year-old kid, who is going through puberty, spend most of his time discovering his body. The funny part of this is that Santa and the other elves don’t get it, and they refuse to reassign the elf.
GE Big Boys
With this funny GE appliance commercial spoof, a man’s man gets appliances to help with housework that features all of the hallmarks of what is perceived to be true masculinity. A heavier than usual dishwasher door and a 6-foot washing machine are hysterically the changes that will make housework suitable for men.
Khal Drogo’s Ghost Dojo
Kenan Thompson is a talk show host in the Game of Thrones afterlife who soon finds out Khal Drogo and Hodor are the worst guests ever because Drogo barely talks and Hodor only knows one word. Things get spiced up Jerry Springer style when Joffrey Baratheon and Olenna Tyrell slap box.
An Extra Christmas Carol
This Christmas, Scrooge gets one more visit after the three usual ghosts, from the ghost of Christmas extra. Momoa’s extra ghost is a take on the popular phrase, and he is all about being dramatic. This extra behavior confuses Scrooge to no end … but he joins in on twerking by the end.
