Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Who’s visiting this time?
Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers now include reports that there will be another visit to an old location in King’s Landing, but who’s going?
Warning: Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers now include future filming plans for the show, so watch out!
From Moneyglass to Dubrovnik, the places that magically become the world of Game of Thrones are pretty famous all on their own. But we haven’t spoken about Spain as it relates to Game of Thrones season 8, at least not until now. Watchers on the Wall and ultimately Los Siete Reinos both report that the Dragonpit (also known as Roman ruins close to Seville, Spain) will appear in season 8, because filming will happen there.
This hasn’t actually started, however, so don’t keep your eyes on which actors are in Spain just yet. What’s more interesting to us is who could be going there and why they would be going there. Watchers speculates that it could both be part of the larger sequence of events in King’s Landing or just a place for a meeting.
However, we put forth another theory here: that whoever ends up on the Iron Throne at the end of Game of Thrones will crown themselves in the Dragonpit, with whatever surviving dragons there to witness it. The show could even cut to a shot of them sitting on the Iron Throne (or a new throne, whichever works best) afterward. Naturally, that seems to suggest that it would be Daenerys, but that isn’t set in stone, pun intended.
The real thing here is that the Dragonpit is one of the few areas in King’s Landing suited for dragons. If the show is planning to film there, then it stands to reason that at least one of the dragons would show up and make getting all of that approval on the production side worthwhile.
Of course, the show could just destroy the Dragonpit once and for all, too, either by the efforts of undead Viserion or Drogon and Rhaegal. Watchers seems to lean towards that conclusion.

But because the pit is already in ruins, to let it stay standing and serve as the start of a new beginning for the Targaryen dynasty (which could include Jon, mind you) could be one of the strongest images for Game of Thrones season 8 to close itself on.
