Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers, taken with a new tidbit from Maisie Williams, make us suspect Arya could be in trouble.

Warning: There is discussion of Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers below.

Leave it to the astute fans of r/freefolk to dig up any and every little tidbit about Game of Thrones season 8. This one comes from Maisie Williams speaking to Metro, and as the subreddit itself has noted, the key quote here is that Williams says she has about three months of filming that’s happening at night, and she’s approximately a third of the way through that.

But the fans over there had already found since-deleted sources on Instagram that indicated that filming at Winterfell (Moneyglass) could last a similar amount of time. Additionally, recent video has shown some particularly interesting — and fiery — goings-on at the Stark castle.

The two might not be connected. However, to continue the theme here, there’s a lot of smoke here. It’s hard not to conclude that Arya might play a major role in whatever happens there. Is it she setting the castle aflame in a defensive move or even a last-ditch effort to buy some time to escape with Bran and Sansa?

Then again, r/freefolk has also put Isaac Hempstead Wright in Dubrovnik recently. If Bran does end up making a hasty escape with his sisters, then that would suggest that he survives to make it down to King’s Landing. That, however, is working off the theory that both we and our sister site Winter is Coming have promulgated — that King’s Landing events recently filmed are later in the season.

But that then asks a new question: Where is Arya after Winterfell? Does she take Sansa somewhere safe if Sansa survives? Does an escape for someone like Bran come at the cost of one or both of his sisters’ lives? After all, Williams also called the season “kind of an impossible challenge.” Does part of that challenge come with saying an early goodbye to a character she’s spent a decent amount of her life with?
