Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Okay, it’s definitely burning

Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers might have just confirmed a theory we here at Culturess developed based on previous evidence.

Warning: Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers by way of video lurk in this post. Besides, we’re speculating on what this all could mean.

Game of Thrones season 8 apparently hasn’t finished when it comes to whatever major action sequence is going on at Winterfell — and apparently, whatever’s going on there will take plenty of time in the world of Westeros.

That’s because, thanks to a little help from our sister site Winter is Coming, it looks like whatever’s going on at Winterfell is rather extended in terms of in-universe time, because fire has now been spotted during the day.

Frankly, the more this writer thinks about it, the more she thinks that her off-the-cuff theory that Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen would take a not-so-romantic trip past the Wall yet again (for what purpose, we’re still not sure) only to return (probably at night) to find that the castle Jon calls home for the bulk of his life in absolute chaos.

Not only would it increase the narrative tension to show the fight at Winterfell during the day but not show the end of it, cutting away to either Daenerys and Jon or somewhere else entirely and cutting back at night would pretty effectively show how serious and how long the fight has lasted without making us spend forever at the same location. While Game of Thrones has shown it can hold our attention with one sequence for long stretches (“The Winds of Winter” comes to mind), it doesn’t always have to do that.

Besides, it’s the last season. What would it be like if there weren’t any risks taken at all, really? A pretty boring season of Game of Thrones, and that’s not how we want the show to go out.
