Ed Sheeran Has Dropped More Hints About His Game of Thrones Cameo

Game of Thrones Season 7 is set to include a few more celebrity cameos than we’re used to. Singer Ed Sheeran gives us a few more hints about his guest appearance.

We already knew that songster Ed Sheeran would grace our televisions in Game of Thrones Season 7. Even though he’s, quote, “only in it for like five minutes,” that’s still more screen time than most Hollywood extras can ever hope to see. And since we’re so excited to watch the next chapter of Thrones unfold, any hint on what we’re about to see is welcome news.

Sheeran’s role was relatively unknown for a while, though we knew he was in a scene with Maisie Williams. When speaking to The Hits Radio’s Tom Green, he said, “I just do a scene with Maisie. I sing a song and then she goes, oh, that’s a nice song.”

Short, simple, to the point, and doing what he was born to do: serenade the ladies (and gents).

Our sister site Winter is Coming.net speculated that Sheeran is more than likely playing some kind of bard character, possibly at the Inn of the Crossroads. From one of the brand new promotional photos, we get the feel that’s where Arya is sitting. And since Maisie and Ed share a scene, this could be an accurate guess.

Sheeran is also a cast and crew favorite on a musician level. Show runners have actually been trying to get him on the show for years, but his touring schedule always seemed to interfere with the Thrones shooting schedule.

As for other celebs making a cameo, we’ll definitely see Mets Pitcher Noah Syndergaard as a Lannister guard, as well as Mastodon guitarist Brent Hinds, who has signed on as a wildling.

Game of Thrones Season 7 premieres (finally) on July 16. We’ll be waiting.
