10. President Elizabeth Lanford (Independence Day: Resurgence)

President Landford was the 45th President of the United States and only the 4th after the War of 1996. She didn’t have a natural progression into politics. No real time for that when the population has been decimated, and you are trying to rebuild a country. Lanford is the deciding vote at the UN Security Council that deemed the spaceship near the moon was hostile and should be destroyed. On the 20th anniversary of the War of 1996, the aliens were back. The President and her cabinet were able to escape to a bunker in Cheyenne before the aliens destroyed the entire eastern seaboard.

She lost her entire family during the War of 1996. Langford’s family tragedy is what triggered her battle harden exterior and unwilling conviction. President Landford was captured by the alien queen but would not revile vital information. Once the alien queen realized she could not get any information out of President Lanford, she was killed.

She was the ultimate warrior President and would vote for her in a wartime situation. She understands loss because she has lived it. She knows what it means to send people into danger. The best thing she recognizes, the United States will survive without her.
