Youngest Disney Legend Miley Cyrus reminisces on Hannah Montana
First premiering on March 24, 2006, Hannah Montana became a certified Disney Channel hit. It was one of the first big game-changers Disney found in its strive to become a force of nature in children's television. Eighteen years later, Hannah Montana's legacy is still very much intact, and its leading star, Miley Cyrus, has just been named the Youngest Disney Legend.
Miley Cyrus' star power skyrocketed as she became one of the biggest and most successful faces of Disney Channel, starring in the show's theatrical film in 2009 and going on The Best of Both Worlds Tour that went on to become a film concert experience.
Earlier this year, Miley Cyrus even won a Grammy for her song "Flowers." However, her success in music does not mean that she has forgotten where she came from or the series that so many of her fans still remember watching her star in every week.
In her emotional acceptance speech, Miley Cyrus described the pride and excitement that came from landing the role of Miley Stewart and a behind-the-scenes story of how one of those early Hannah Montana concerts portrayed in the series came to be.
Fans have watched Miley Cyrus strive to prove herself as an artist and an adult outside of the Disney name and how her development has brought her full circle back to D23 as she accepts one of Disney's highest honors.
Outside of Hannah Montana and Hannah Montana: The Movie, Miley Cyrus has also starred in other Disney projects such as Bolt and The Last Song. Miley Cyrus even teamed up with Disney+ in 2023 for Miley Cyrus--Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions).
Miley Cyrus' impact on Disney Channel will never be forgotten. In her speech, Miley Cyrus continued to dedicate her achievement to Hannah Montana's loyal fans who have kept their love for the series alive and to everyone who helped her turn her dreams into reality.
