Video game news round-up: Week of June 28, 2024
It's another week where the video game news hasn't slowed down! Let's just jump right in.
Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC review bombing
Fans on Steam are apparently review-bombing the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for being "too hard."
...I'm sorry. What were you expecting from a Souls game by FromSoftware? The overall reviews on Steam have "downgraded" the game to "mixed." Listen, if you're not getting your face punched in by the same boss seven times in a row, are you even playing a Souls game?
We do also already have Update 1.12.2 for the game, but it does not address the bug that freezes your device if the game is left idle for more than five minutes.
Rookery Interactive announces cozy horror RPG, A Good Night’s Rest
Indie studio Rookery Interactive has announced their debut title, a cozy horror RPG called A Good Night's Rest and has also released a trailer, check it out below.
This is a hand-drawn game that showcases the struggles of young adulthood and starting a new chapter in life, specifically leaving the comfort of home to start at university. Players will spend the daytime managing resources and making decisions as every good cozy RPG does, but Rookery advises that nighttime is something different altogether.
There's not a release date yet, but you can add it to your wishlist on Steam!
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
In a surprise that no one expected, Dead Rising's Twitter account tweeted for the first time since 2019 that Dead Rising is returning as Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.
Remasters/remakes have been on the up and up in the the last couple years, but this one looks like a heck of a lot of fun. Not a ton of news on it yet nor do we have a release date, so we'll keep our eyes peeled for more info as it trickles out.
Lara Croft in Dead by Daylight
Joining the ranks of Alan Wake, Lara Croft is heading to Dead by Daylight. July 16th, to be exact!
She has three new perks for her character: finesse, hardened, and specialist. You can dive into them in more detail on the official Dead by Daylight subreddit!
Epic Mickey: Rebrushed release date
Nintendo announced the official release date for Epic Mickey: Rebrushed coming out on the Switch, and it's September 24th. It'll be interesting to see how this translates from the Wii to the Switch (I assume double joystick for the controls instead of motion controls).
