‘Real Housewives of Dallas’ Star D’Andra Simmons Tells Us About Her Skincare Line
By Sheiresa Ngo
Real Housewives of Dallas star D’Andra Simmons is on a mission to help people improve and maintain their skin health. Her goal is to offer products that revitalize and nurture the skin. Here’s what the entrepreneur told Culturess about her skincare line and her latest product, AminoBrite.
About Hard Night Good Morning
Simmons founded her skincare company, Hard Night Good Morning, in 2008. She was inspired to enter the beauty and nutrition industries after her mother, Dee Simmons, received a cancer diagnosis in 1987.
Before starting the skincare line, Simmons partnered with her mother on Ultimate Living. This business, founded in 1996, aims to promote wellness and disease prevention through supplements.
“Most of my products in the Hard Night Good Morning line are anti-aging products, and they’re natural, aloe-vera based,” Simmons told Culturess. “Aloe vera is the delivery versus water. Aloe vera penetrates, and water evaporates, so aloe vera has always been my delivery system.”
Hard Night Good Morning’s AminoBrite
AminoBrite is one of Hard Night Good Morning’s newest products. The serum has received rave reviews, winning the Skin Repair Product of the Year award at the Beauty Innovation Awards. Simmons describes AminoBrite as a skin-brightening product. She says it’s helpful for age-spot reduction, smoothing the skin, wrinkle reduction, and more.
“The reason AminoBrite won the Skin Repair Product Award out of 2,500 other products is that it not only has the aloe vera delivery system, but it also has natural versions of retinol.”
Simmons says some people cannot use the regular version of retinol because it tends to cause skin irritation. This is why she prefers to use natural ingredients like bakuchiol.
Helping Everyone Maintain a Youthful Glow
Simmons keeps the consumer in mind when she creates new products. She says she thinks about what she would want. Her wish list led her to focus on products that address aging concerns. However, one thing you won’t find in Simmons’ line is a fad product.
“I think about what I would want and my needs for my skin as I go through this process of aging and menopause,” said Simmons. “Your skin changes from the time you’re 15 to 20 and from 25 to 35 and 40. Our needs change. However, there are always things that are constant and consistent. I don’t really make fad products for that reason.”
Simmons focuses on the basics. She makes sure to offer a well-rounded line of products that target common skincare needs.
“You’re always going to need a good cleanser, and you’re always going to need a good toner,” said Simmons. “You’re always going to need good moisturizers and serums that are specifically targeted to things that [people] are going to want.”
It’s Never Too Late To Save Your Skin
Don't stress about your skin if you haven’t been taking care of it. Even if you’ve practiced poor skincare habits like sleeping with your makeup on, all hope is not gone. Simmons says it’s never too late to start a regular skincare routine.
“We have lots of people who use our exfoliating cleansers, our toners, and our soothing pro-collagen cream, which is geared toward all ages. If you’ve had a habit of sleeping with your makeup on, and we’ve probably all done that, you can start [reversing the skin damage] now.”
Simmons says skin repair usually takes place late at night until the early morning. You can take this time to apply your skincare products and nourish your skin back to health.
“When your skin repairs, it’s literally between 11:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.,” said Simmons. “It starts doing repair and rejuvenation. And all night long, if you have the right products on, it’s going to help that process.”
Don’t let past skincare mistakes stop you from taking action. You still have time to get your routine back on track. With a few changes, you can get the healthy, glowing skin you’ve always dreamed of.
