Even though All American initially introduced Layla to be Spencer's first love interest in the early days of season one, it was inevitable that he and Olivia would find their way to each other.

Olivia and Spencer's connection survived separate romantic relationships with Asher and Layla respectively before ultimately, Spencer realized that he had fallen in love with Olivia.

Although their romance initially began in a complicated manner of Spencer and Olivia also having to navigate the aftermath of hurting Layla and Asher, in the end, Olivia and Spencer embraced their mutual feelings and began the relationship that had been embedded in the show from the pilot episode.

It was not always smooth sailing, as expected with teenage relationships. However, Spencer and Olivia had a strong friendship foundation to lean back on, and no obstacle was ever truly enough to break them, even when Olivia's journalism actions risked Spencer's college football career.

Over the years, these two have thrived on unconditional love and mutual support. They lift each other up. They support each other. They want the best for each other.

After over a year separated by distance, they worked to re-discover who they were as a couple and were honest about their feelings and boundaries once realizing they were both walking on egg shells.

Spencer and Olivia are a rock-solid foundation of the romances on All American and a significant part of the heart of the series. Spencer's proposal in "Victory Lap" also shows their shared love and connection to Billy when Spencer proposes on the 22-yard line to acknowledge Billy's number and his spirit being with them. Spencer even references getting Laura's blessing before moving forward.

As Olivia and Spencer prepare to get married, it is a celebration of how far these characters have come individually and as a couple. They both have undergone triumphs and tragedy, leaning on each other to help heal, grow, and flourish in an ever-changing world.

Spencer and Olivia's romance was the only still existing romantic relationship that was specifically teased in the show's first episode, and it has never been suggested to be anything other than a strong dynamic where these two find their way to each other as friends and romantic partners.

Even though the romantic undertones have always been there for Olivia and Spencer, their friendship also remains a significant element of their dynamic because they were given the opportunity to grow as friends and individuals first before embarking on a romantic relationship.

Doing so gave All American time to offer these characters the ability to stand united before presenting them with a romantic relationship while also giving fans a slow-burn romance they could root for.

Spencer and Olivia are a fantastic example of a romance that, while it can be implied from the beginning, is given the chance to burn slowly so when the moment arrives that these two could actually embark on this journey together, it feels like the perfect moment has arrived for them, and gives the audience the moment they have been waiting for.

Allowing Daniel Ezra's exit to appear alongside Spencer's wedding to Olivia gives Spencer the happy ending he deserves with the woman who has always been his day one.

After everything this couple has been through, sending their relationship off with a beautiful conclusion that directs them on the next chapter of their lives professionally, and as a married couple, if the perfect ending for the romance that All American created for Olivia and Spencer.
