All American Is Saying Goodbye To Daniel Ezra As A Series Regular

It's been an incredible journey, but as so many do, this one must come to an end as well. Daniel Ezra is exiting All American as a series regular ahead of its upcoming seventh season, even though he is expected to return as a recurring guest star.

As of "Victory Lap," Spencer James has finally achieved pretty much everything he has worked for. He has been drafted to the NFL, won the Super Bowl, and gotten engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Olivia. Narratively, having Spencer back in a series regular capacity could run the risk of harming all of the good things he has going for him.

Although season six still has two episodes left to go, it is likely they are going to work toward Spencer and Olivia's wedding and putting in place whatever other elements in need of closure that can allow Spencer to walk into the sunset with his dreams in hand.

But, what does the future of All American look like without Spencer James as the main character? Well, that depends on what happens to the rest of the show's main cast. All American has not officially revealed where Jordan ends up yet professionally, and if there are story opportunities for him and Layla, or if their wedding helps them exit as well. Olivia's future could also be undetermined, given her engagement and upcoming wedding to Spencer.

Since Spencer had to move to New York, Olivia would likely be going with him if they are married, unless All American's seventh season finds an excuse that brings Olivia back to California, such as potentially being a consultant on the television adaptation or potential movie adaptation of her successful book series.

Considering All American's focus on football, the series could potentially convert itself into turning Jordan and Asher into mentors while a next generation rises up to take the reigns as new central characters.

Although Spencer James will be missed as a series regular, he is being given a goodbye and a sendoff that gives the character the happy ending he deserves.
