In the beginning, Jordan, Layla, and Coop were starting to find their way, and over the course of six seasons, their journeys grew to reflect who they were and who they had become. However, season seven is about to make some massive changes that began with the mass exodus of most of the original cast. With only three original series regulars left, it will be up to Coop, Layla, and Jordan to carry the original legacy of the series into the next season. Meanwhile, the group of newly added series regulars helps round out the new high school students taking on a primary role as All American resets itself for a new slew of NFL dreams. So, what are some of the biggest takeaways from the trailer?

Jordan's role with the players appears to potentially mirror his father's early episodes of the show, as Jordan follows in his footsteps to recruit a student to the football team. Otherwise, the trailer teases that neither Beverly High School nor Crenshaw High School is about to have the easiest ride to the Championship game. Layla and Coop also have their respective moments, which help balance out the idea that All American, while still centered on football, will continue to have significant storylines occurring outside of the sport. Yet, for anyone asking questions about whether the new set of cast members and storylines will hold up to the originals, it is still far too early to tell.

There is not much to go on in the trailer regarding what to expect from the new slew of characters, but it does help to see the returning face of Preach and Samantha Logan's reprisal of Olivia Baker. Also helping to anchor the season are the small clips of Jordan and Layla's relationship, which shows their marriage is still going strong heading into the seventh season. With so much going on, All American does have the chance to offer itself a new chance to excite audiences with brand new characters and storylines while still keeping some of the characters that help hold onto the original foundation of the show. While seasons four through six portray the group in college and growing into adults, season seven has the chance to lean harder into the adult aspect of Layla, Coop, and Jordan's lives.

What does success mean for young adults? How does Jordan's new role as a coach alter his view of his relationship with Billy? How does Coop move forward in her law career? What is next for Layla's business ventures? As All American tackles its seventh season, there will be a chance to discover if the series offers Jordan, Layla, and Coop a more adult approach to life and how their own previous experiences help impact their relationships with the new incoming characters.
