All American: Jordan and Layla are the keys to anchoring season 7

With Daniel Ezra exiting All American as a series regular and Samantha Logan potentially following behind him with Spencer and Olivia's wedding solidifying them as a married couple, All American needs people to anchor the next phase of the show, and that honor needs to fall to Jordan and Layla.

As two series regulars since season one, Layla and Jordan have played integral roles in nearly every element of All American, and their romance has been one of the most successful parts of the series since season four introduced their budding relationship.

As All American prepares for Jordan to step up into his father's role as a coach at South Crenshaw High School and with how the series has already begun laying the seeds for mentoring the next generation, it just makes sense that Jordan would be a key part of bridging the gap between the show's original premise and whatever story comes next.

Layla's role as a music producer keeps things interesting as well, as Layla's experience with both Coop and Patience has shown Layla how to step up and be there for her clients. Layla's Lounge has even helped her put a stamp on Crenshaw, one of All American's most significant locations.

Jordan and Layla's relationship could sturdy the show at a transitional time when it is not entirely clear what may come next.

Layla and Jordan do not just represent what All American was at the very beginning, but what it has become over the years, and what it could be in the future. They are adults now, and they get to undergo the trials that go along with that, including potentially having a baby one day down the line.

Getting to explore a more adult portrayal of the characters who are entirely focused on building their professional careers and lives as a married couple gives a new layer of maturity to the characters and the series itself.

If All American is potentially preparing for a mass exodus, with Coop and Patience's futures up in the air as well, then the legacy of the series, the legacy of Billy Baker, and the highs and lows of love and loss with Spencer and Olivia, remained tied to All American through Layla and Jordan's connection to the show. Those events and the history that is so ingrained in the series get to live on through Jordan and Layla's continued journey.

Asher may be strongly connected to season seven as well by coaching at Beverly Hills High School and living in Crenshaw, and it would be fun to see Asher and Jordan as coaching rivals as they each mentor aspiring teenage football players.

Layla and Jordan have the strength, humor, and leading charisma it takes to drive the narrative forward toward whatever may come next on All American.
