It's only been two years since I have worked at a place that has holiday work parties, and I was not prepared for the level of serving the ladies at my work were going to be giving. When I say gowns, I am not overstating it. Maybe it's just this specific job, but there were sparkles and capes and cleavage and it was delightful, Like a fashion show in the basement of a local event space.

So, while I have my dress already picked out (there may be a small capelet involved), I figured other people might be looking for dresses for their holiday parties. And don't worry! I understand not everyone is like my job. Let's take a look at five different dresses (at semi-reasonable prices) that will for sure get you noticed at your next holiday work party.

Holiday green

Looking to go classic red or green? You literally cannot go wrong with this shiny green dress from Unique Vintage. It's the right length for a work party and the ties at the shoulders give it some interest from the normal run of the mill dress. The bodice also gives it some good structure. I would wear this in a heartbeat.

Sparkle sparkle

Ok, full disclosure: I have been looking at this dress for probably six months. It's covered in sequins! What's not to like? This 1960s-inspired dress from Unique Vintage is giving if Stevie Nicks ran through a bunch of glitter. But you don't have to pick the disco-ball-looking one. There are more subtle versions. Just make sure to pull back your sleeves when you go for the appetizers.

Sparkle and shine at your holiday work party with these holiday dresses

Gothic delight

Speaking of dresses I have been looking at for months: this sparkling gothic lace dream of a dress from Distubia would be amazing for any work party. And it will work well with heels or combat boots. You can't say that about just any dress. The waistline also gives it some shape so it's not just another boxy lace dress.

Over-the-top gown

I had to include one gown and this shiny silver floor-length gown from Unique Vintage is giving everything. It's shiny, it's drapey, it has fringe, and it has a cape. What more could you want? Sure, you have to want to stand out in the crowd, but if your work colleagues give as much as mine do, this is a way to show up and have people talking. It's absolutely gorgeous. And it will work for New Year's Eve too!

The red dress

What's the holidays without a red dress? Unique vintage has a ton of them that are beautiful, but this 1940s red velvet flutter sleeve dress is perfect for a work part. It's got a flutter sleeve, so it's appropriate, but it's also a little low-cut and it's velvet so you'll stay at least a little bit warm and look like you're ready for the holiday. It's absolutely gorgeous. I LOVE the drapey waist with the tie.
