Everything to know about BET+’s The Michael Blackson Show

Looking for something to laugh along to this weekend? Check out one of BET+’s latest comedy series, The Michael Blackson Show starring comedian Michael Blackson. The show stars a fictionalized version of the Ghana-born performer. His character, aptly-named Michael Black, is a “dashiki-wearing African teacher chasing the American Dream struggles with culture shock as he navigates delinquent teenagers and eccentric colleagues at his new school.”
You may have seen him as a cast member in seasons 8, 10, 12 & 15 of VH1’s improvised comedy show Wild n Out, and Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta. He also had a role in the Tiffany Haddish-led comedy Nobody’s Fool (2018) and Prime Video’s Coming 2 America (2021). He was also featured as Mr. Wooky in the Meet the Blacks movie franchise. This will mark Blackson’s first leading role in a scripted television series.

What is The Michael Blackson Show about?
"A Ghanaian immigrant teacher is a simple man looking to share his knowledge with the world. He’s proud of his African heritage and will gladly wear a dashiki if he can find one now that his new Beyhive girlfriend is moving all her stuff into his place along with her two kids. His new job as a teacher at an elite predominately white preparatory school has him dealing not only with an eccentric staff of teachers but also spoiled and filthy rich teenagers who are sure to give him a hard time."
