Britney Spears‘ 14-year conservatorship ended in November 2021 and signs of new music are finally here. Her last album, Glory, came in 2016, with only small music appearances in between alongside her Las Vegas Residency. Now, years later, reports are indicating that Britney and Elton John have collaborated and recorded a new version of his 1971 song, “Tiny Dancer”. Could this version become even more famous than its 2000 Almost Famous feature?

It is being reported that the pair met in Beverly Hills, California last week to record the duet alongside Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt. Watt has worked with artists that include Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Pearl Jam and Ozzy Osbourne.

While it has been years since we have seen new music from Britney Spears, Elton John re-recorded duets of his past hits earlier this year with Dua Lipa. The song, titled “Cold, Cold Heart” , features a mashup of his singles “Rocket Man” and “Sacrifice”.

It has been reported that Britney recorded new music between her 13-year (2008 to 2021) conservatorship but it is not known whether any new or additional singles will be released. Supporters of the #FreeBritney movement have expressed their desire for new music but have seen the star focus on her personal life and mental health with her recent marriage to now husband Sam Asghari and professional hiatus.

Representatives for both Britney Spears and Elton John denied requests for comment. Britney has also expressed interest in re-recording a new version of  “…Baby One More Time” in a video on Instagram, but claimed she had never been able to do so due to her conservatorship.

Now that Britney is “free”, it is safe to say that new music is on its way. Whichever direction Britney might take may not be known, but if this collaboration is what is coming next, it is one that is worth the wait.
