San Diego Comic-Con is finally back in person and Nickelodeon is prepared to have an immersive presence.

San Diego Comic-Con is one of the most famous and popular entertainment events in the country. Originating in 1970, the event has evolved from being an annual comic book convention to an entertainment extravaganza that welcomes all types of genres of media, from the latest blockbuster films to television series and of course, comic books.

A major company to present at Comic-Con is Nickelodeon which will feature, as ScreenRant explains, “an immersive booth experience and 4 panels on popular series.”

Nickelodeon has been one of the biggest names in the world of children’s entertainment since 1979, giving a platform for shows such as Spongebob Squarepants, Rugrats, and The Fairly Odd Parents.

It will be an especially special year since it’s been 3 years since the last in-person Comic-Con, with the 2020 event being canceled due to COVID-19 and the 2021 event being an “at home” convention.

Of course, Nickelodeon isn’t the only company that will be there. There’s Disney with its properties, which include Twentieth Century Fox, Star Wars, and Marvel, that will provide a plethora of choices for viewers to watch and consume. Whether someone is looking for an action series, such as The Rookie and its upcoming spinoff The Rookie: Feds or they’re more interested in comedy, such as the popular Abbott Elementary, there is sure to be a show or movie that will captivate the audience’s attention.

There’s also going to be the return of Marvel to Comic-Con for the first time in years as opposed to its presentations being made at D23, which is the official Disney convention. There have been events announced from Prime Video, with panels on the big-budget fantasy spinoff, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power and Wheel of Time. However, the one with the most nostalgia looks to be Nickelodeon.

Nickelodeon’s presence will include four major panels. Spongebob Squarepants: Dive into the Spongebob Universe!, will highlight the beloved animated series that follows the underwater adventures of Spongebob and his friends. Avatar: The Last Airbender fans will love to see Avatar: Braving the Elements-Live!, which will, as ScreenRant reports, detail “the creation of their landmark series.” Braving the Elements is “the official companion podcast co-produced by Nickelodeon and iHeartRadio, which is returning for a second season.

The remaining panels include those on the next generation of series for popular franchises including Rugrats with Nickelodeon’s Rugrats: The Babies are Back! and the world of Transformers with Introducing Transformers: EarthSpark!

Nickelodeon will feature an “immersive booth experience,” that includes interactive designs of various Nickelodeon shows, such as more content with Spongebob, Avatar, and Transformers, along with designs for Monster High.

There will be an interactive game themed with Monster High: The Movie, where fans can, “compete against the clock to match objects to lockers designed with each character in mind.”

There will be a 16-foot-tall Bumblebee Transformer to promote the world of Transformers, where fans can, “scan different objects in the space with a QR code to make elements animate with sounds and lights.”

If someone ever wanted to take a photo with one of the talking babies from Rugrats, there are photo opportunities for that, as well as autograph booths for Transformers: EarthSpark, Rugrats, and Spongebob for those who want to meet the producers and voice talent who bring these shows to life. In addition, there will be costumed character appearances with the likes of Spongebob and Patrick Star.

Nickelodeon definitely builds on nostalgia with their panels this year and looks to the future as beloved classics from previous decades, such as Rugrats and Avatar, look to continue to bring something new to the convention.

To see the event return with screenings, Q&A sessions, incredible costumes, intricate cosplays, and all the fun of being with so many others who share the same passion for whatever fandom one is involved with, Nickelodeon definitely will make its presence feel known at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

From children’s animation and animated comedies to science fiction, action, and comic book series, there is sure to be something for every fan at Comic-Con.
