A second chance isn’t always everyone’s favorite trope, but these romance books flip the script.

Second chance romance isn’t for everyone, but sometimes second chances are exactly what characters need to realize they should be together. The first second-chance romance you should check out is Count Your Lucky Stars by Alexandria Bellefleur. This is the third book in her Written In the Stars series, but each can be read as a standalone.

This book follows Margot and Olivia as they reconnect after Olivia is hired to help with Margot’s friends’ wedding. As with most romance books, the two become roommates and eventually fall for each other. This book is incredibly steamy and puts a unique twist on the second chance romance since Olivia is divorced, and the two reconnect after not being together for over ten years.

As for the other second chance romance, Once Ghosted, Twice Shy by Alyssa Cole is another f/f romance. This one follows Likotsi and Fabiola, who reconnect after a night of passion, and it follows them as they come together to find more answers and more about each other. This book is a Black love story with both lesbian and bisexual representation.

Alyssa Cole also writes this, so it’s steamy and fun while tackling more complex topics, including immigration. This book is short too, so it’s an excellent choice if you don’t have much time to read.
