With the COVID-19 pandemic and Omnicon variant taking lead more than ever, many (if not) all major award shows, along with concerts and major entertainment spectacles have been canceled. With many being canceled permanently, few are coming back slowly with new dates. One of these is the 2022 Grammy Awards. Originally scheduled for January 31 from the Crypto.com arena, the show will now air on April 3rd from 8–11:30 p.m. ET/5–8:30 p.m. PT at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Here’s what you need to watch the show in April.

Getting ready for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards

The Grammys were rescheduled due to the spread of the Omnicron variant. However, that does not mean there has been a change to the nominees or categories. Trevor Noah has also been announced as the host and it will be his second year hosting. The major change in the process has been the CBS debut of the CMT Awards having to be rescheduled.  The ACM’s will also take place in Las Vegas on March 7.

When the original rescheduling first began, the statement released by the Recording Academy read:

"“The health and safety of those in our music community, the live audience, and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly to produce our show remains our top priority. Given the uncertainty surrounding the Omicron variant, holding the show on January 31st simply contains too many risks"

John Batiste leads this year’s nominations with 11 nominations. The nominations include the prestigious album of the year nomination, record of the year, and best R&B album.

Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and H.E.R. follow with each artist receiving eight nominations and Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo each receiving seven nominations.
