Best movie musicals: Sing

While Sing is an animated movie, it is still a stunning musical that gives us the talents of Taron Egerton, as well as Reese Witherspoon, Matthew McConaughey, and even Seth MacFarlane. And beyond that, there is so much more to this movie that will leave you entranced and wanting more.

There are some great songs in the film, including “The Way I Feel Inside,” “Set It All Free,” and the ever stunning “Hallelujah.” Whether it is the classic songs we already know and love, or newer songs, this musical combines both with ease in a way that leaves us singing with abandon.

With Sing, the magic is as much in the music and the adorableness of the characters (it is an animated film after all), as it is the storyline itself. A theater looking for a second chance, a young man looking to break free of his life with the help of song, and so many other characters who find music to be the thing that takes them away from their everyday life.

For those of us who loved every second of this musical, the joy of the film is in the fact that we can all connect with characters looking to break away from the roles we are often forced into for any number of reasons. After all, if these characters can find a new chance to shine through music, then so can we.

As an added bonus, it looks like we are getting a sequel, and we are here for that.
