Best movie musicals: Grease

Another movie musical that must be included in any list of the greatest musicals has to be Grease. Not only are Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta brilliant in their roles, but the story is so much fun, and the music is legendary.

This is a movie of young love, the last days of high school, and even learning to accept others for who they are. There is a lot of magic in this romantic comedy that tells the story of Danny, a Greaser, and Sandy, a transfer student who is very much a good girl. From their summer romance, these two find themselves learning more about each other in a school setting that is far removed from their time on the beach where they first met.

Grease is the kind of musical that makes you wish your high school days could live up to the magic of the movie. And with some impressive musical moments, you know this is a movie that will capture your imagination.

Who hasn’t sung “Greased Lightning” or “Beauty School Dropout” a few dozen times? And let’s not forget the brilliance of songs like, “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “You’re the One That I Want.”

Seriously, the music is enough to make this musical a winner, and the fact that the story is awesome too, makes this a hands-down favorite.

I think Grease will always be near the top of any list of amazing movie musicals I work on because it really is brilliant in all ways.
