Best movie musicals: Enchanted

Okay, hear me out here. Enchanted might seem like a weird choice for a top 20 movie musicals list, but there is a lot to be said for a movie that not only features Dr. McDreamy Patrick Dempsey but also James Marsden and Amy Adams. And the fact that all three of these stars are at their very best just cements why this movie deserves to be on our list.

Enchanted delivers an epic tale that goes from animated to live-action in a way that is both funny and makes sense. And the fact that we see these characters actually singing their way around New York City makes this a fun watch every time.

Plus, we can’t forget the fact that Julie Andrews is the narrator of this film and she is the queen of the musical. (In fact, she shows up more than once on this list alone.)

Honestly, there are so many moments that not only make us love this film but also remind us of the magic of a quality musical. There is a lot to love about a story that blends the classic Disney tropes with a live-action plot. You could almost say that this is the movie that helped usher in the Disney era of turning their classic animated movies into live-action films.

For me, Enchanted is a magical movie that gives us humor and music to tell a story and that’s enough to make it one of my top movie musicals. Plus, the fact that it is a real feel-good movie that everyone in the family can enjoy certainly helps make this a great musical offering.
