2021 Grammys: Taylor Swift becomes first woman to win Album of the Year three times
The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards were a noteworthy night when it comes to women making history, with Megan Thee Stallion becoming the first female rapper to take home Best New Artist, Beyoncé breaking records with her 28th Grammy win, and Taylor Swift becoming the first woman to bring home the trophy for Best Album of the Year three times.
Swift won the honor for her eighth studio album, Folklore, which was also the best-selling album of 2020. Her previous wins in the category were for “Fearless” in 2010 and “1989” in 2016.
Swift and her team stepped up to the podium to accept the trophy, and it was clear just how excited the group was to have collaborated on Folklore together. During her speech, Swift expressed gratitude for a number of people in her life, from those who worked on the album with her to those who have offered support for her music throughout her career.
Swift then highlighted how appreciative she is of her fans, stating:
"“But, mostly, we just want thank the fans. You guys met us in this imaginary world that we created, and we can’t tell you how honored we are forever by this. And thank you to the Recording Academy. We’ll never forget that you did this for us.”"

Swift also performed at the 2021 Grammys ceremony, delivering stunning renditions of “Cardigan,” “Willow” and “August.” After a year with two hit albums — and during which she finally began re-recording her own music — Swift had a great Grammys ceremony.
