The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards took place last night, with a smaller and quieter ceremony than fans are accustomed to. That didn’t stop there from being a number of great performances and some seriously noteworthy wins, however — including three for Megan Thee Stallion, who took home awards for Best New Artist, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

Megan Thee Stallion snagged Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Savage,” a duet with Beyoncé, who accompanied her to the stage for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance to accept their prize.

Trying not to cry, Megan Thee Stallion stepped up to the podium and thanked everyone making music through the pandemic:

"“First of all, I have to keep thanking God, because without God, none of us would be here today. And I also want to say congratulations to everybody who was nominated because all of these songs were amazing. Music really helped a lot of us get through the pandemic, so, like I said, shoutout to everybody who is in here today because a lot of these songs pushed us all the way through.”"

“I definitely want to say thank you to Beyoncé,” she added, who later expressed how much respect she has for Megan Thee Stallion.

With her Best New Artist win, Megan Thee Stallion also made history, becoming the first female rap artist to ever receive a Grammy in the category (and the only woman other than Lauryn Hill to win the award).

Overall, it was a big night for Megan Thee Stallion, who also performed “WAP” with Cardi B during the ceremony. Like many of the performances, theirs was top notch and exactly what many of us needed after a year at home.
