Nancy Drew is dealing with the consequences of her actions

It’s time for Nancy Drew to start dealing with the consequences of her actions. And that includes her actual criminal activity.

Since Nancy Drew started, we have watched as Nancy has broken into people’s homes, broken in the morgue (and stolen evidence), and even tampered with the security at the Historical Society, unleashing paranormal entities she doesn’t even know anything about. And finally, it looks like our young detective is paying for actions (even if it won’t stop her from bulldozing over people at will).

In the latest episode, “The Riddle of the Broken Doll”, we see that Nancy is having to do 500 hours of community service because of her morgue break-in from Season 1. So of course, those community service hours are taking place in the same morgue she broke into.

But that’s not the only way she is paying for her previous actions. Because now her breaking into the Historical Society is coming back to haunt her, her friends, and the town as a whole.

While Hannah Gruen of the Historical Society has every reason to turn Nancy away when she shows up at her door demanding help when a body follows her home from the morgue, Nancy Drew is nothing if not persistent. And with Hannah’s help, we learn that the body is actually not human at all, but rather an evil entity that was released when Nancy broke into the Historical Society and destroyed the security system in order to save George.

And sure, the evil entity is handled, it is unlikely to be the only thing that Nancy unleashed. In fact, we now know for sure that George is being haunted by the woman who was once the Agleaca. So, it is clear that things are only going to get worse for the group, as there is a lot more than one spirit or paranormal being currently roaming the town of Horseshoe Bay.

The problem is, Nancy Drew does not seem to be changing in any way. She still seems more than willing to drag her friends into her messes, and she has no issues when it comes to “circumventing the law.” It just feels like she never learns, and that is going to get frustrating if we don’t see some sort of personal growth out of her soon. Because, while we have seen glimpses of her realizing that she has done things the wrong way, it doesn’t seem to change anything in the long run.
