The latest episode of Nancy Drew, “The Drowned Woman” saw the Drew Crew less than unified and ready for the fight of their lives. With the Aglaeca ready to complete the curse that would satisfy the Drew Crew’s debt, Nancy and her friends were looking for anything that would stop the sea witch from destroying them.

From sand related to the curse to the letters that the woman who became the witch wrote to a lover, Nancy Drew and her friends were ready to do whatever it took to survive the curse that they brought down upon themselves. And yet, it is not the curse, the Aglaeca, or even the division among the friends that really made an impact in this episode.

No, the thing that really made an impression is the fact that once again, Nancy is doing things without thinking about the consequences of her actions. In an effort to save George’s life, she has basically unleashed horror on her town.

While we would never want to lose George, we don’t know what the repercussions of Nancy using the shroud will have. And based on those final moments of “The Drowned Woman,” it looks like it may not just be George who is in her body anymore. But that’s not the only concern, and that’s what is so terrifying (at least for Nancy, her friends, and the town as a whole).

Nancy Drew has unleashed the unknown on her small town

In an effort to get her hands on the shroud that helped bring George back, Nancy Drew broke into the Historical Society and when she couldn’t get into the box she wanted, she destroyed the panel that would keep all of the boxes sealed. That means, that some of the most dangerous mementos of this town are now no longer under lock and key.

And maybe that would be okay if the boxes stayed closed. But we all saw those final moments where a number of the boxes opened up all on their own and let loose what can only be described as some new entities.

Basically, Nancy Drew messed up and not only are we not surprised, but it figures. We already had an idea that there would be issues with her using the shroud to revive George without learning about the consequences of using it. Now, there are all the other boxes that need to be dealt with and who even knows what escaped.

On the one hand, I am pretty excited that we are moving on from the curse of the Aglaeca, but on the other hand, it is about to get really messy for Nancy and her friends. And with no clue what they are going to be coming up against, it could be a while before we see any resolutions to what went down in “The Drowned Woman.”
